Day In The Life:

Reporting to the Director, Tax Planning & Research, the Senior Manager, US Tax Planning & Research will be responsible for supporting tax planning related to business initiatives and HBC Holdco transactions by liaising with tax advisers and various parties within the HBC Holdco and Portco organizations to drive feasibility, analysis and implementation from a US tax perspective. 

In addition, the Senior Manager, US Tax Planning & Research will be responsible for in-depth research of US domestic and international tax issues to support the Tax Reporting team in dealing with provision, tax return filing and domestic tax audits. Lastly, the Senior Manager, US Tax Planning & Research will also be responsible for obtaining US research and analysis through internal teams or professional services providers in supporting HBC’s strategic and business initiatives as well as complex tax issues in tax reporting, tax provision and tax disputes resolution.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Supporting tax transactions related to day-to-day business initiatives (such as cash movement cross border) and strategic M&A transaction planning (potential acquisitions and divestitures)
  • Liaising with all relevant internal and external parties to complete feasibility analysis, support tax research and analysis and drive implementation
  • Responsible for tax technical research to support the Tax Reporting Team in their provision and tax return preparation as well as audit defense and dispute resolution
  • Providing technical support for complex compliance, including partnership returns and elections
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with changing tax laws
  • Working with external service providers and internal business/legal/finance teams to drive the completion of the projects and transactions
  • Ad-hoc research, modeling and analysis as directed by the tax leadership

 

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in tax, accounting, finance or related fields 
  • CPA or JD preferred
  • 8+ years in a tax research and transaction planning role and preferably have experience working in a Big 4 environment with experience in US international tax and M&A
  • Strong analytical skills to review financial information and interpret it 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of completing duties within set deadlines while still ensuring that the information produced is accurate
  • Results oriented, must be willing to take ownership of all assigned responsibilities 
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • WFA can be arranged if outside of New York
  • Results driven and has the ability to connect with parties in various disciplines to get things done. Has strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies
