What This Position Is All About:

 

  • This position will be part of and will support the Hudson’s Bay Company Business Resilience team based in New York, NY. 
  • This position is responsible for developing and managing the Crisis Management Plan in support of Corporate Business Resilience policies and objectives in alignment with business goals. 
  • This position will also facilitate development of the Business Continuity Plan and work with Disaster Recovery management supporting HBC Business Resilience functions for an integrated approach to disaster response
  • This position will support the communication matrix for the Business Resilience program, working with cross-functional leadership and ensuring alignment and successful testing of the program.  
  • This position will also help establish a maintenance schedule for all Plans within the Business Resilience program and monitor program compliance
  • This position will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program. We are a cross-trained team and support each other with Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery deliverables integrated into Business Resilience objectives.

 

Who You Are:

 

  • 5-8 years’ experience in planning for Crisis management, Emergency Management or Business Continuity
  • Subject matter expertise in Business Continuity and Crisis/Emergency Management with a minimum of 5 years of  Business Continuity experience
  • Experience working with/implementing systems for business continuity and emergency notification. 
  • Experience with coordinating planning for recovery from disasters with technology, facilities and physical security and business functions
  • 2 - 3 years' experience as a project/program manager
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tabletops and complex, integrated recovery exercises
  • Experience leading disruption risk assessments and plan development
  • 3+ years of experience with helping develop / testing recovery strategies for cloud (IaaS / SaaS) based environments
  • Proven ability to coordinate indirect teams to develop and execute plans
  • Problem solving, analytical, decision-making and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write and interpret business and technical documents and to interpret and document business process and data flows
  • Ability to multitask and work cross functionally with multiple business partners
  • Exercise and meeting facilitation experience
  • General computer skills – Windows, Microsoft: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project. 
  • Ability to recognize and deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.

 

You Also Have:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree Required (business, engineering, computer science, information management, management information systems, or a related field)
  • DRII CBCP - Certified Business Continuity Professional (or similar certification such as Certified Disaster Recovery Professional) Highly preferred
  • PMP Certification is preferred.
  • ITIL certification is desirable.
  • Ability to develop and implement a program road map
  • These services may require long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

 

As The Senior Business Continuity Specialist, You Will:

 

  • Provide tactical and strategic planning and direction for Crisis Management and Business Continuity within the Business Resilience program. Assist with developing a Business Continuity/Crisis management strategy and framework, roadmap and detailed work plans. Define metrics and provide status reports. Conduct team meetings, review deliverables and manage execution of plans. Leverage industry best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct support to all business units on all aspects of business continuity including business continuity plans, table top exercises, functional drills and crisis management roles as needed
  • Guide plan owners through an annual Business Impact Assessment, Strategy Review, Plan Development, and Testing Cycle and issue remediation
  • Participate in development of integrated testing of plans in conjunction with third party providers of virtualization, cloud computing, managed hosting, and disaster recovery outsourcing with alternate site vendors for seamless recovery and resilience
  • Develop, socialize, and maintain business continuity policies, standards, procedures, and process
  • Take a lead management role in disaster monitoring and reporting during an event.  Coordinate and communicate with key functions for restoration of people and technology.
  • Take the lead to facilitate development and maintenance of the Crisis Management plans and processes.  Conduct discovery sessions with site leaders and ensures adequate testing and exercise schedules.  Partner with key stakeholders (Executives, HR, Asset Protection, Facilities, IT and key business functions) to ensure content is relevant and appropriate.
  • Partner closely with the Emergency Response team to ensure an integrated approach to Business Resiliency.  Ensure that the Emergency Response communication fits into the overall Crisis Management communication framework. 
  • Provide direct support to all business units on all aspects of crisis management, including but not limited to: crisis management team plans, table top exercises and crisis management roles.
  • Collaborate effectively with Site Leadership and Business Continuity resources to ensure that Business Continuity plans are linked to Site Business Resilience plans.
  • Take a lead management role in any large emergency or regional crisis monitoring and reporting.  Coordinate key departments for communication and expedient restoration.  Formulate crisis recap, lessons learned and present to key stakeholders. 
  • Document and update changes to the business continuity and crisis management plan, ensuring disaster recovery plans are updated by responsible parties, as required
  • Manage the compliance exception process to track and report gaps, risks, compensating controls, and remediation strategies
  • Partner closely with the IT Disaster Recovery teams to ensure an integrated approach to HBC Business Resilience. Interact with Security Incident Response team as needed This requires some level of IT background and knowledge (infrastructure components, operating systems, application basics).
  • Support team vendor relationship management needs, vendor selection for BC program and work with Risk and Compliance teams to assist with risk assessment and response to audits when needed
  • Develop and administer training on Business Continuity and Crisis Response 

 

How Often You May Travel:

 

  • Local travel to critical locations within the NYC area may be required in case of crisis events or exercises.
