JOB PURPOSE AND ACCOUNTABILITES

This position provides maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Clean buildings and grounds areas as needed and/or assigned.
  • Coordinate with skilled tradesmen and/or assigned supervisor(s) for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot system component parts, office equipment and facility components (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels, etc.)
  • Schedule, perform and document a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.).  
  • Repair furniture and building system components as needed
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Qualifications: 

  •  Minium of some post-secondary education.  Prefer candidate with technical diploma.
  • Have welding experience
  • Must be able to work Monday to Friday with occasional work on weekends; flexible to work afternoon shifts when required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Satisfactory completion of company mechanical and electrical tests will be required.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage systems would be an asset
  • Plumbing and Pipe Fitting would be an asset.
  • Capability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, building blueprints, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety requirements related to maintenance.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet deadlines while working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to take the initiative when required and strong sense of urgency with the capacity to accomplish results under pressure.
  • Must be able to work in a professional, fast-paced environment and be willing to deal with shifting priorities.
  • Consistently and independently, lift up to a minimum of 25 kgs
